Parameters like weight, height, blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) are indicators of your overall health.
However, health management goes much beyond this. You must realize the functioning of various systems in your body. Identify if you have any physical limitations. If you are physically not strong or have a mental feeling that you will hurt your back, you will be unable to lift things and this is a problem, which needs attention.
If you identify any problem with any of your body parts like legs, necks, ears, arms, etc. you must consider them. Initially visit your doctor to find out whether you are physically fit or not fit in those areas. By doing so, you help the improvement of your overall health and in addition enhancing your knowledge.
The foods that we eat play a vital role in managing our health. Foods are in fact the fuel, which our body needs, in constant supply to function well internally as well as externally. Similar to the manner how food works in a machine, our body also needs food to function efficiently.
If you do not provide the quality foods needed, our body will not function in the correct manner. Have you ever had any experiences like the employment of low quality fuel or gas in a ghastly gas station in your car slowing the pace of the car, lowering the mileage of the vehicle, or making the need for you to service the car often than required or usually done?
In a similar way, our body needs healthy and nutritious food items. Body will be very active when the correct foods are consumed. Wrong consumption of foods can :-
• Impair the entire functioning of the body
• You may feel tired often and cannot work as needed
• You may feel ill sooner
• While sick, the symptoms may worsen and your healing process is delayed much
• Increase in your blood pressure and heart rates to unhealthy levels
• You may face both physical as well as mental problems
All these may arise when you avoid healthy foods and prefer unhealthy ones. But how do you know which is healthy and which is not, why are they alone healthy?
Fresh vegetables are one among the nutritious foods available everywhere. They contain antioxidants to such high level, which enables the healing processes in your body, enhances the physical fitness both inside and outside. You can consume as much vegetables as you love owing to their low calorie content.
Fruits come in next. They are sweet and hence they can help people who prefer sweet foods most of the time. Similar to vegetables, they provide the necessary antioxidants and nutrients needed by the body as fuel.
Whole grains are the next healthier products. Distinct from white foods, whole grains are much healthier. They are not responsible for gaining weight. Selecting different grains from potatoes to pasta to bread permits you to have all the tastes without any addition of calories or fats or sugars, which are responsible for some health issues.
Water is the next important constituent of a healthy diet. People who do not consume enough liquids finish having much more water instead of having less. In due course, the body dehydrates, thus causing the person to have all the water he can. Consumption of the required liquid content ensures your body to be hydrated. In addition, it means that you are eating less and not getting calories from other fluids.
Meat is the next part of the diet. Meat provides the necessary protein content for your body. However, meat has fatty content in addition. This can be avoided by consumption of lean meats, which helps in cutting the cholesterol intake.
Cholesterol may block the arteries when in high levels, thus minimizing the blood flow to different parts of the body.
If you improve these five areas alone, it is just enough to maintain your health. Good news is that you do not need heavy or much work for this to occur.
